Franchise documentation
Fancy Fillings franchisees are required to enter into the following documents:
- A confidentiality agreement in relation to the Fancy Fillings system,
- A franchise agreement dealing with the franchise relationship,
- A lease for the premises where the shop is located,
- A license agreement dealing with the occupancy of the store if the lease is not held by the franchisee.
The franchise documentation clearly sets out the obligations of the parties and is necessary to protect the integrity of the Fancy Fillings system for the mutual benefit of Fancy Fillings and Fancy Fillings franchisees.
Prior to entering into the franchise documents a comprehensive disclosure document is provided to the franchisees.
In some cases prior to entering into the franchise and license agreements it is necessary to enter into a document called an agreement to enter franchise agreement and license agreement.
Fancy Fillings Sites
Fancy Fillings will select, negotiate and enter into a lease of a store in accordance with Fancy Fillings method of site selection.
- Site selection is based on analysis:
- Area demographics, including population
- Site exposure, including people traffic flow in the area
- Rent/leasing cost
Design and Fit Out of the Franchise Store
Fancy Fillings will design and supervise the fit out and the equipping of each store to the Fancy Fillings standard. Fancy Fillings will ensure that approved independent contractors perform the fit out in a highly competitive manner.
Trademarks and Intellectual Property
The franchisee is granted, under it’s franchise agreement, a license to use the intellectual property during the term of and on the terms set out in the operations manual.
Training and Store Opening
Fancy Fillings will provide extensive training to its franchisees covering all aspects of our Fancy Fillings system as well as assisting in the opening of the store for the first 60 days of operation.
Products and Suppliers
The franchisee is required to merchandise only those products and services which have been approved by Fancy Fillings. In terms of supply, we have key specified suppliers which franchisees are required to buy from and there are also preferred and local suppliers which we help franchisees source and deal with.
What Fancy Fillings look for in a Franchisee
Fancy Fillings requires that its franchisee have:
- enthusiasm, ambition, integrity and willingness to work hard;
- strong communication skills;
- a strong personal involvement in the management of the store (with a preference for franchisees who will operate the store personally and devote their full time and effort to the store);
- Financial security and financial capacity to operate the store as well as supporting and borrowing cost associated with the store.
Ongoing Costs of Being a Fancy Fillings Franchisee
Franchisees are responsible for all the expenses relating to their store and in addition pay an ongoing royalty fee of 9% of gross sales to Fancy Fillings.
An occupancy license fee being equal to the rental (and other outgoings and expenses) payable by Fancy Fillings to the landlord of the store (where acceptable to the landlord, these occupancy fees are paid directly by the franchisee to the landlord).

Could I learn to operate a Fancy Fillings store?
Fancy Fillings requires that the person purchasing a franchise has the qualities mentioned above. If you have the necessary qualities, we would like to discuss our program with you.
Previous experience in the food industry is not necessary, but management capabilities are a pre-requisite of any retail venture.
As a part of the growing Fancy Fillings team, you have the support of our head office to help guide you to success with your store.
Is investing in a franchise risk free?
Statistics indicate that the risk involved participating in any franchise should in general, be significantly less than the risk involved in proceeding in business on your own account. However, in all retail business, risk exists and we can not guarantee the turnover of a particular store or its profitability.
When do I pay the royalty fee?
The franchisee is required to pay the royalty fee weekly.
What if I decide to sell my business?
Should you wish to sell your store you may do so, to a prospective buyer who meets the Fancy Fillings requirements for the franchisees and agrees to comply with all required procedures then in force and enters into the then current standard franchise agreement at the time of sale. We have no objection to the transfer of your franchise under these conditions, however a transfer fee is payable to Fancy Fillings.
Should I seek independent advice before entering a franchise?
We recommend that each franchise obtain competent legal advise before entering into the franchise documentations to ensure that its franchisees fully understand their obligations.
In addition, it is prudent for franchisees to obtain the service of a competent accountant to advise the franchisee generally.
Is there a standard procedure that I am required to follow?
Yes, however the procedures are simple. Fancy Fillings systems for diversified matters such as reporting, insurance, accounting practices, purchasing, hiring and training new staff, cost control, advertising, merchandising and other essential functions contributes to the efficient operation of your franchise.
